I found this recipe for the softest most delicious sugar cookies
EVER from this blog.
I made them last
night and should have read all of the comments before I made them b/c it would
have helped with the stickiness of the dough...HERE it is! :)
You Need:
1 cup of butter
2 cups of sugar
2 eggs
3 tsp. vanilla
1 cup of sour cream...YES, SOUR CREAM, it's great.
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
5 1/2 cups flour
Cooking spray
Parchment paper
Directions:
·
In mixer, cream the butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla.
·
After those are mixed, add and mix in the sour cream
·
In a separate bowl, combine salt, soda, and flour, mix
together, then add to butter mixture
**My dough was SUPER SUPER STICKY.
I just kept adding flour but in the comments I saw that if you let the dough
chill OVERNIGHT that it eliminates the sticky! So I'm going to try that next time!***
·
If you opt not to chill then, Roll out on a VERY WELL FLOURED
surface to about 1/4 to 1/3 inch thick...you REALLY want to make sure they're
thick!
·
Cut out your cookies.
**last night I realized that I
don't have any cookie cutters, so I used the mouth of a round cup I had. B/c
the dough was so sticky I would dip my "cookie cutter" into a bowl of
flour I had set to the side.**

·
Remove the scraps, which will be VERY hard to do if your
counter/board/whatever you're using is not heavily floured.
·
Use a spatula to carefully pick up each doughy cookie and place on
a greased parchment-lined cookie sheet
·
Roll out the scraps and repeat until you're finished.

Bowl o' flour. :) |
Bake at 375
for 7-8 minutes
THEY WILL NOT LOOK DONE!!!
Do NOT give in and "cook them a little longer". They
will not have ANY brown anywhere on them. If they are golden brown around the
edges you have cooked them too long.
**My oven
typically cooks fast but I left them in for 7 minutes and they turned out
PERFECT!!!**
I got about 3 dozen cookies out of
this recipe!
The blogger put in a recipe
for butter cream frosting....I personally thought it was disgusting
and liked the Duncan Hines Butter cream Frosting much better. I'll
put the recipe in here anyway, up to you! :)
Butter cream Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/4-1/3 cup milk
·
Cream butter, beat in sugar and vanilla until crumbly.
·
Gradually add milk until the frosting reaches desired consistency,
add desired food coloring.
Good luck my lovely bloggers!!
