Slow-cooker FIRST!!!

So this post is a little....REALLY picture heavy-bare with mehhh. Today was the first time that I have ever used a crock pot. Today was the first time that I've ever cooked roast. Today was the first time I have ever attempted bbq. IT.WAS.AWESOME!!!

I know, I know....when people find out I've never used a slow cooker before their eyes bug out and they say "Ohhh my gosh how have never used one!?!???" (especially Mormons, Mormon meals usually revolve around crock pots). It's true, today was my first time, but guess what? Russell and I have been eating fine up to this point (obviously, hahaha). ANYWAAAAY, it was super super super delicious and I'm pretty dang impressed with myself for not botching it! :) Here's a few pics of dinner and a recipe to go with it! :)
You need a slow cooker...obviously...
Shredding the meat...this took a LOOONG time
since there was A LOT of it.

The meat was completely cooked here,
this was before adding sauces, etc...

Finally done! :) Only took 7 hours!

DEEEEELICIOUS dinner. :)

Barbecued Pulled Pork Sandwiches
(Makes 8 servings)
Prep time 15-20 minutes
Cook time: 12-14 hours (low) 6-7 hours (high)

1 pork shoulder roast (about 2 1/2 pounds)--Mine was about 7 1/2 b/c that was the only size they had left at Wal*Mart.

1 bottle (14 ounces bbq sauce)

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon of brown sugar

1 medium onion, chopped

8 hamburger buns or hard rolls.

1. Place pork roast in slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW 10-12 hours or on HIGH 5-6 hours or until done.**I poured in a tall glass full of water with it just to keep it moist--it WORKED really well, I cooked mine on HIGH for 5 hours**

2. Remove pork roast from slow cooker; discard cooking liquid. Shred pork with 2 forks. Return pork to slow cooker. Add bbq sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar and onion. Cover and cook on LOW 2 hours or on HIGH for 1 hour. **I cooked mine on LOW for 2 hours to really let the meat soak in the sauce and everything**

3. Serve shredded pork on hamburger buns or hard rolls.

NOTE: For a 5, 6, 7 quart slow cooker, double all ingredients, except bbq sauce. Increase sauce to 21 ounces.

Okay, so I'm apparently dumb b/c I read the recipe like 474839 times and was SURE that the ingredients read 1 tablespoon of brown sugar....it wasn't until JUST NOW that I realized it was only supposed to be a teaspoon....

So, since my roast was so large, I used a 40 ounce bottle of Head and Country bbq sauce, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1 red onion-minced. We put 5 bags of leftovers in the freezer. We broke the meat up into 3-4 sandwich servings per bag that way we already have it portioned in case we 1. don't want to cook one night or 2. someone needs a meal, it's easier to take to them! Also, I would definitely definitely definitely recommend putting the glass of water in with the roast to keep it moist!!!

Sorry this post was SO LONG! :/ ENJOY!!!
